Everything you need to know about Froorio and post-quantum security
Froorio is available for both iOS and Android devices:
After downloading, simply open the app and follow the registration process using your phone number.
We use your phone number for:
Your phone number is never shared with other users and is stored securely.
Currently, Froorio is designed for use on a single primary device. This is to ensure maximum security, as your encryption keys are stored locally on your device.
We're working on a secure multi-device solution that maintains our security standards. Stay tuned for updates!
Yes! Froorio is completely free to use. There are no subscription fees, no premium tiers, and no hidden costs.
We believe privacy is a fundamental right, not a luxury. Our goal is to make military-grade encryption accessible to everyone.
Post-quantum cryptography refers to cryptographic algorithms designed to be secure against attacks by both classical computers and future quantum computers.
Traditional encryption methods like RSA could potentially be broken by sufficiently powerful quantum computers. Post-quantum algorithms are based on mathematical problems that remain difficult even for quantum computers to solve.
Froorio uses Kyber for key exchange and Dilithium for digital signatures—both NIST-standardised post-quantum algorithms.
Kyber (now officially known as ML-KEM) is a lattice-based key encapsulation mechanism. In simple terms, it's a way for two devices to agree on a secret encryption key without anyone else being able to discover it—even if they intercept the communication.
Froorio uses Kyber768, which provides approximately 192 bits of security against both classical and quantum attacks. This is the level recommended for long-term security.
Kyber was selected by NIST (the US National Institute of Standards and Technology) as the primary post-quantum key encapsulation algorithm after years of rigorous evaluation.
Dilithium (now officially known as ML-DSA) is a lattice-based digital signature scheme. It provides cryptographic proof that a message:
Like Kyber, Dilithium was selected by NIST as the primary post-quantum digital signature algorithm. Together, Kyber and Dilithium provide complete post-quantum protection for your communications.
While large-scale quantum computers don't exist yet, there's a serious threat called "harvest now, decrypt later".
Adversaries—including nation-states—are already collecting encrypted communications today, storing them until quantum computers become available to decrypt them. If your messages contain information that will still be sensitive in 10-20 years, they're at risk.
By using post-quantum encryption today, Froorio protects your messages from this future threat. It's like buying insurance before you need it.
No, absolutely not. Froorio uses end-to-end encryption, which means:
Even if our servers were compromised, or if we were compelled by legal process, we simply cannot provide message content because we don't have it.
Yes! All voice and video calls in Froorio are end-to-end encrypted with the same post-quantum protection as messages.
We use WebRTC for calls, with our post-quantum encryption layer on top. The audio and video streams are encrypted on your device and only decrypted on the recipient's device. Our TURN servers relay the data when direct peer-to-peer connections aren't possible, but they can only see encrypted data.
The Encrypted Vault is a secure storage space within Froorio for your sensitive documents, photos, and files. Everything stored in the Vault is encrypted with the same post-quantum encryption as your messages.
The Vault is protected by an additional PIN or biometric authentication (fingerprint/face), so even if someone gains access to your phone, they can't access your Vault contents.
Disappearing (ephemeral) messages automatically delete themselves after a set time period. You can choose from:
The timer starts when the recipient reads the message. Once the timer expires, the message is deleted from both devices.
Note: Recipients could still take screenshots, so disappearing messages are an additional layer of privacy, not a guarantee.
Yes! You can create group chats with up to 100 members. Group chats have the same end-to-end encryption as one-on-one conversations—each message is encrypted for every group member.
Group features include:
Froorio supports a wide range of file types:
Maximum file size is 100MB per file. All files are encrypted before upload and can only be decrypted by the recipient.
We collect the absolute minimum necessary to operate:
We cannot access: Message content, call audio/video, files, vault contents, or your contacts.
For full details, see our Privacy Policy.
You can delete your account at any time:
Warning: Account deletion is permanent and cannot be undone. All your messages, files, and vault contents will be permanently deleted.
Your encryption keys are stored on your device. If you lose your phone without a backup:
We recommend enabling encrypted backups in Settings to prevent message loss. Backups are encrypted with a separate password that only you know.
Yes, you can export your data in compliance with GDPR:
The export includes all your messages and files in a readable format, protected by the password you set.
